After 30 years experience as a dentist in Sunderland, Martin decided to set up our practice based on principles which he felt were innovative in offering a dental care service.
These principles are:
- the importance of a patient-centred philosophy
- the importance of “non-dental considerations such as:
- ease of access
- team working
- striving always to be the best
- biggest is not always best.
He realised, therefore, he would need to build a purpose-built practice rather than take over existing premises, and that the dental team would need to be as highly trained as possible with the best equipment affordable.
In July 2001 we opened in purpose built premises erected on a high profile site on Sunderland Enterprise Park.
The Practice has a nautical theme which reflects the long history of Sunderland shipbuilding in the area in which it is built. The Practice is decorated in blue and yellow to reflect sun, sea, sand and sky. The reception desk was specially built as half a clinker boat and the team wear a uniform in keeping with the nautical theme including merchant navy epaulettes!
